Error server log shows "Couldn't initialize VSS (0x80070005: Access denied)"

This error originates outside of Magnus Box but shows up in the Magnus Box server logs.

  • Affects: Windows server, multiple years and versions.
  • Cause: The addition of the DHCP role to the server.
  • Solution: Follow the authoritative solution(s) suggested in the external links below.
  • Summary: "Add Network Service account on this registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VSS\Diag. After you give it full permission this error will be gone".
