Failed to enable extended DASD I/O

The full warning message often reads: "Failed to enable extended DASD I/O (DeviceIoControl: The parameter is incorrect.). Any lost clusters between the volume end and partition end will be backed up in non-Forensic mode."

Disk Image backups may exhibit this warning message. The only resolution available at this time is to disable Forensic mode in the Items tab of the backup configuration dialog (see screenshot below).

To offer a bit more detail, this warning is tied to the specific disk driver on the device. When Forensic mode is enabled, Magnus Box attempts to gain low-level read access to the raw disk data. If granted, the software is able to back up data outside of the defined partitions, which can be used by a forensics lab in an attempt to recover deleted partitions or files.

However, some disk driver API's to not support that amount of control over the disk: these drivers are incompatible with Forensic mode and thus result in the warning that appears in the job reports. For more information on this operation, please see Microsoft's Documentation on the operation here.
