Creating Your First Backup

Let's set up your first backup in Magnus Box:

Step 1: Create a User

  1. Click "Add User" in your portal
  2. Fill in the user details:
    • Account Name (Optional but recommended)
    • Username (client name recommended)
    • Password
  3. Save the user credentials

Step 2: Install Magnus Box Software

You have two installation options:

Option A: Manual Installation

  1. Click "Download" in your portal
  2. Select your operating system
  3. Run the installer
  4. Enter the user credentials you created
  5. Complete the installation

Option B: RMM Deployment (Recommended for MSPs)

Step 3: Configure Your First Backup

You can set up your backup using either the endpoint software or the web portal:

Using Endpoint Software

  1. Open Magnus Box software
  2. The setup wizard will pop up automatically, if not click Create New Protected Item
  3. Select "File and Folder Backup"
  4. Choose what to backup:
    • Start with a small test folder
    • Document folder recommended
  5. Set schedule (Daily recommended)
  6. Start the backup

Using Web Portal

  1. Go to Users
  2. Click the account
  3. Select Protected Items
  4. Click "Add Protected Item"
  5. Select "File and Folder Backup"
  6. Choose what to backup:
    • Start with a small test folder
    • Document folder recommended
  7. Set schedule (Daily recommended)
  8. Start the backup

💡 Pro Tip: Remember, you're using one of your NFR licenses for this test. Monitor the backup progress in your portal's Recent Activity section!
