NinjaOne integration
What it's for
See each device's backup status inside NinjaOne, and optionally get NinjaOne tickets when a backup fails. Available from Magnus Box 26.10.0.
Partners can set this up themselves. If you'd like help, email support@magnusbox.com.
Before you start
- The NinjaOne agent must be installed on every device you want backup information for.
- You need a NinjaOne administrator account and admin access to the Magnus Box Web Portal.
Steps
1. Create a client app in NinjaOne
- In NinjaOne, go to Administration > Apps > API, open the Client app IDs tab and click Add client app.
- Application Platform: Web.
- Redirect URLs: your Web Portal address exactly as it shows in your browser, for example
https://backup.example.com/. - Scopes: Monitoring, Management and Refresh Token. Allowed Grant Types: Authorization Code.
- Save, then copy the Client ID and Client Secret. The secret is only shown once.
2. Connect it in the Web Portal
- Go to Settings > Integrations. Under PSA & Alerting Services, add a NinjaOne connection.
- Enter your NinjaOne Base URL (for example
https://app.ninjarmm.comorhttps://eu.ninjarmm.com), the Client ID and the Client Secret. - Tick Tickets if you want failure tickets. Leave it off if you only want the device fields.
- Click Authorize with NinjaOne and approve the request as a NinjaOne admin.
- If you turned on tickets, click Load and choose the NinjaOne organization the tickets should go to.
- Click Save, then Save Changes.
What you'll see in NinjaOne
After the first backup, each device gets these custom fields, updated after every job: Last Backup Status, Last Backup Time, Last Backup Destination, Last Backup Total Size and Last Backup Job ID. The field names start with your branded product name, so they don't clash with other tools.
With tickets on, a failed backup opens a ticket on the device with a summary and a link to the job log. Repeat failures add a comment and raise the severity instead of opening duplicates, and the next successful backup resolves the ticket. If you have more than one ticket form or board, the first active one is used, so check it during setup.
