How to use your NFR licenses

NFR (not for resale) licenses let you back up your own workstations and servers with Magnus Box. Every partner account gets three free NFR licenses. You just tag each device so it's billed as NFR.

Set up a device as NFR

A device counts as NFR when its name ends with -NFR, for example OFFICE-PC01-NFR.

New device

1. Install Magnus Box on the device.
2. When it asks for a device name, add -NFR to the end.

Device that's already registered

1. In the Web Portal, open the user account and go to the Devices tab.
2. Open Rename device for the device.
3. Add -NFR to the end of the name and click OK.

What's not included

NFR licenses only cover the device license. You'll still be billed at normal rates for these on an NFR device:

• Proxmox, Hyper-V and VMware host-level backups (billed per VM or container)
• Disk Image
• Office 365

Note: Adding -NFR to a hypervisor host doesn't make its VM or container backups free.

Tagging more than three devices

If more than three devices are tagged -NFR, the extra devices are billed at the normal workstation or server rate, and our team will reach out to you.
